CBD
What is CBD?
What is CBD?
CBD (cannabidiol) is one of over 100 cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. CBD will not make you "high." CBD works naturally with the body’s own endocannabinoid system (ECS).
Will CBD make me high?
Will CBD make me high?
No, CBD will not make you "high." It is however important to make sure the CBD products you use are tested and do not contain high levels of THC. THC can make you "high." All Basic Jane products are tested and shown to be THC-free.
Is CBD legal?
Is CBD legal?
Yes, if it comes from hemp. In 2018 the Farm Bill legalized the growth, processing and sale of hemp in hemp plants that contain <0.3% THC. However, some states have additional laws regarding CBD product sales and use, so it is important to check local laws and regulations.
Hemp
What is the difference between hemp, cannabis and marijuana?
What is the difference between hemp, cannabis and marijuana?
Both hemp and marijuana plants are members of the cannabis genus of plants; hemp plants produce less than 0.3% THC. Marijuana plants produce more than 0.3% THC.THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) is the main psychoactive compound in cannabis that produces the "high" sensation. Hemp is federally legal. Marijuana is not federally legal.
Do hemp products contain THC?
Do hemp products contain THC?
Understanding the THC concentration in products can be confusing for consumers. The industry has established terminology that consumers can use to base their purchase decisions upon. Many products in the market contain THC. Those products are often labeled as "Full Spectrum" products. These products are generated by using oil that is generated directly from hemp without any remediation (removal) of THC.
"Broad Spectrum" products are made from hemp oil which has had the THC remediated but contain all the other compounds found in the hemp plant.
"Isolate" is purified CBD. It looks like a salt and generally has purity of over 99% CBD. You can think of it like purified sugar. It is simply CBD. These products are generally THC-free. This requires additional manufacturing steps. Basic Jane has elected to use isolate in its products. We find the product is very consistent allowing us to provide you the same product every time. As part of our formulating, we use other plant based essential oils such as lavender or citrus oil to aid in overall scent and product goals.

How Oral CBD Works
How is oral CBD different from topical CBD?
How is oral CBD different from topical CBD?
Topical CBD products work locally — you apply them directly to the area of discomfort and they interact with receptors in the skin and underlying tissue. Oral products are absorbed through digestion and work systemically, supporting your whole body rather than one specific area. This makes oral products especially valuable for conditions that are more widespread, internal, or mood- and sleep-related.
How long does it take for oral CBD products to work?
How long does it take for oral CBD products to work?
Oral products typically take 30–90 minutes to take effect, depending on your metabolism and whether you have eaten recently. Plan accordingly — they are not a rapid-response product in the way topicals are, but their effects last significantly longer.
How long do the effects of oral CBD last?

Effects from oral CBD products typically last 6–8 hours, making them a great choice for consistent, long-lasting support throughout the day or night.
What is CBDA and why is it in Boost Mints?
What is CBDA and why is it in Boost Mints?
CBDA is the raw, unheated form of CBD found in the hemp plant. Research suggests it may have potent anti-inflammatory properties, and when combined with CBD, the two cannabinoids may work synergistically for enhanced effect. That is why Boost Mints contain both — to deliver extra support beyond what CBD alone can provide.
What is CBG and why is it in Refresh Chews?
What is CBG and why is it in Refresh Chews?
CBG (cannabigerol) is sometimes called the "mother cannabinoid" because it is the precursor to other cannabinoids. It is being studied for its potential to support mood, energy, and focus. In Refresh Chews, CBG is combined with CBD and terpenes to create a formula specifically designed to help you feel clear-headed, calm, and energized.

Patch Product Selection
What makes Basic Jane CBD Patches different from other CBD products?
What makes Basic Jane CBD Patches different from other CBD products?
Basic Jane CBD Patches were developed out of one of the first state-licensed cannabis research programs in the U.S. Unlike topical creams, gels, and sprays that work locally at the surface, our transdermal patches are engineered to deliver CBD steadily through the skin over an extended period — up to 12 hours of consistent support from a single patch. Every patch is THC-free and formulated with key ingredients like aloe and CoQ-10 to maximize both comfort and absorption.
Are Basic Jane CBD Patches THC-free?
Are Basic Jane CBD Patches THC-free?
Yes. Basic Jane patches are 100% THC-free, are third-party tested, and are legally sold under the 2018 Farm Bill. They will not get you high and will not cause concerns around drug testing.
How are patches different from Basic Jane creams, gels, and sprays?
How are patches different from Basic Jane creams, gels, and sprays?
Creams, gels, and sprays are topical — they work locally at the site of application and typically last up to 4 hours. The transdermal patch is in a different category entirely. It delivers CBD gradually and continuously through the skin, and depending on where you place it, can provide either powerful localized relief or whole-body systemic support — for up to 12 hours. It is one of the most efficient and long-lasting delivery formats Basic Jane offers.
When should I use a patch instead of a cream, gel, or spray?
When should I use a patch instead of a cream, gel, or spray?
Reach for the patch when you need extended, hands-free relief. It is ideal for long days, overnight use, travel, outdoor activities, or any situation where reapplying a topical every few hours is not practical. It is also a great option for people who want consistent support without having to think about it.
When should I use a patch instead of an oral product like CBD Mints?
When should I use a patch instead of an oral product like CBD Mints?
Both patches and oral products can provide systemic, whole-body support. The key differences are onset and duration: patches begin working within about an hour and last up to 12 hours, while oral products like CBD Mints also take 30–90 minutes but may wear off sooner depending on your metabolism. Patches also give you the added option of localized placement — you can direct the relief exactly where your body needs it most.
How Transdermal Patches Work
What does "transdermal" mean?
What does "transdermal" mean?
Transdermal means the active ingredients pass through the skin and enter the body's system, rather than just working on the surface. This is what sets the Basic Jane patch apart from a typical topical. Ingredients are absorbed steadily through the skin layer, delivering continuous support over time.
What key ingredients are in the Basic Jane CBD Patch and why do they matter?
What key ingredients are in the Basic Jane CBD Patch and why do they matter?
Two ingredients make the patch especially effective beyond CBD itself:
Aloe provides a soothing, skin-calming base that helps the patch sit comfortably for extended wear — reducing any irritation and keeping the delivery area comfortable over hours of use.
CoQ-10 (Coenzyme Q-10) is a powerful absorption enhancer. It helps drive the CBD deeper through the skin and into the tissues beneath, making the patch significantly more effective than simply applying a cream or gel to the same area.
Does where I place the patch change how it works?
Does where I place the patch change how it works?
Yes — and this is one of the most unique features of the Basic Jane patch. Placement determines whether the patch works locally or systemically:
For systemic, whole-body support: Place the patch on a venous area — such as the inner wrist, inner arm, upper chest, or the back of the knee. In these areas, CBD absorbs into the bloodstream more readily and can support the body more broadly, similar to how an oral product works but through the skin.
For localized, targeted relief: Place the patch directly on or near the area of discomfort — such as the lower back, hip, knee, or shoulder. In these less venous areas, the patch delivers extra-strength, concentrated support right where you need it most. This makes it one of the most powerful targeted relief options in the Basic Jane lineup.
Activity and Timing of Transdermal Patch
How soon will I feel the patch working?
How soon will I feel the patch working?
Most users begin to notice effects within 30–60 minutes of application. The patch delivers CBD gradually and continuously, so the effect builds steadily over the first hour and then maintains consistent support throughout the day or night.
When is the best time to use a CBD Patch?
When is the best time to use a CBD Patch?
The patch is flexible enough for any time of day, but it truly shines in situations where long-lasting, low-maintenance support matters:
- Morning: Apply at the start of the day for 12 hours of steady support without reapplying.
- Before activity: Place on the target area before a long hike, travel day, or physically demanding event.
- Before bed: Apply for overnight recovery — especially effective for people who wake up with stiffness or chronic discomfort.
- During travel: The patch is discreet, mess-free, and easy to wear on the go.
Can I wear the patch while exercising or showering?
Can I wear the patch while exercising or showering?
The patch is designed to stay in place during normal activity. However, excessive sweating, prolonged water exposure, or vigorous rubbing may affect adhesion. For intense workouts, applying to a less mobile area can help ensure it stays put.
Which is better before a workout — a patch or a gel/spray?
Which is better before a workout — a patch or a gel/spray?
For workouts, the Relieve Gel or Pain Spray are great for fast pre-workout application. The patch is a better choice for all-day or overnight use, or for placing on a chronic trouble spot like a bad hip or knee before a long, demanding day. Both approaches work well and can be combined.
Is the patch safe for sensitive skin?
Is the patch safe for sensitive skin?
The inclusion of aloe makes the patch gentle and soothing for most skin types. If you have very sensitive skin or known adhesive allergies, we recommend testing on a small area first. Discontinue use if irritation develops.
Are Basic Jane CBD Patches safe for seniors?
Are Basic Jane CBD Patches safe for seniors?
Yes. The patch is one of our most recommended formats for seniors because it requires no reapplication, delivers consistent dosing, and can be placed either on a venous area for whole-body comfort or directly on a chronic trouble spot like the hip, knee, or lower back for powerful localized relief. As with any supplement, consult your healthcare provider if you are taking prescription medications.
